Core prompt: US based engine manufacturer Westport Innovations has acquired two subsidiaries of Clean Energy Fuels including BAF Technologie

US based engine manufacturer Westport Innovations has acquired two subsidiaries of Clean Energy Fuels including BAF Technologies and ServoTech Engineering for $25m in the US.

The manufacturer has also announced joint marketing and sales program of worth $5m with the Clean Energy.

With the transaction, the manufacturer expects to expand its product portfolio as well as its position in the North American light duty natural gas vehicle (NGV) market, while the acquisition will allow both the companies to grow in the market.

Westport executive vice president Ian Scott said, "With natural gas increasingly seen as a major transportation fuel around the world, we believe the combination of these new teams' market experience and Westport's technologies, scalable manufacturing processes and quality control systems will help create the type of products needed to deliver an OEM-quality vehicle experience to our customers."

Following the move, Westport has secured its position as Ford's partner under the qualified vehicle modifier (QVM) program with over ten products and about 150 Ford authorized dealerships.

Under the $5m joint-marketing program, both the companies will work to increase the natural gas vehicle market, while enabling Westport to offer purchase incentives for fleets, including fuel credits.
